Hazardous Waste Regulation Changes

25 February 2014 by CSG

CSGCleansing Service Group would like to draw your attention to some key changes within the Environment Agency’s Technical Guidance document, which are scheduled to come into effect on 1st April 2014.

Under the new legislation, there are three main changes CSG would like to make you aware of:

1 Any empty packaging which has previously contained hazardous waste, is still considered to be hazardous and must be consigned, carried and treated as hazardous unless the packaging is cleaned and decontaminated beforehand.

2 Mineral oils are to be classified as hazardous from 1st April 2014.

3 Any packaging that can be reused or reconditioned should be where possible. All empty packaging which is assessed and deemed unfit for re-use, must be cleaned before it can be crushed or bailed for scrap recovery.

Should you have any questions or queries on how these changes will affect you, feel free to contact CSG on 0800 048 0622 or email technicalsales@csg.co.uk where a member of the team will be happy to help.
