Who are they?

Selwood Housing is a registered charity providing local, affordable homes across the South West of England. They own and manage over 7,000 homes for rent and shared ownership. As a charity, their surplus is reinvested into new homes, existing properties and back into their communities.

What were their challenges?

Selwood Housing manage numerous properties with septic tanks, cesspits and sewage treatment plants in areas where there is no access to mains drainage. Proper management of these systems is required to ensure access to safe wastewater disposal. It also helps to protect the environment from pollution.

As a housing charity, Selwood Housing’s customers are often vulnerable or elderly, meaning extra care and precautions must be taken to enable safeguarding.

How has CSG made a difference for Selwood Housing?

CSG is proud to have been working with Selwood Housing since 2018. We carry out a comprehensive septic tank emptying service for Selwood Housing from our Bristol depot.

Bespoke service: The service includes working to a bespoke schedule in line with Selwood Housing’s requirements. In 2023 we removed 3.5 million litres of sewage, with safe and legal disposal at a wastewater treatment works or one of our in-house sewage treatment facilities.

Detailed reporting: Monthly reports are issued to show the works completed and the quantities of waste removed. This includes reporting on any defects. We directly work with Selwood Housing’s service and maintenance contractor, informing them of defects as and when they arise.

Dedicated account management: We offer a single point of contact and a dedicated account manager to ensure smooth running of the contract and ease of communication.

Resident-centric approach: All our drivers working at Selwood Housing homes are enhanced DBS checked. This helps Selwood Housing to safeguard their vulnerable residents. We also endeavour to attend at times of day suitable for their customers. CSG collects wastewater from over 30,000 households across the UK. Our drivers are therefore polite, courteous and enjoy working with the public.

Quality assurance: Our management team carries out post visit audits to ensure that our work is to a high standard. Any feedback or recommendations are then promptly communicated to Selwood Housing’s contract manager.
