A leading waste management company has congratulated one of its drivers for completing more than 20 years behind the wheel.

Botley-based Gary Foote is one of CSG’s specialist HGV and tanker drivers, trained to transport hazardous materials from industrial customers to the company’s waste processing facilities.

The 52-year-old said: “I started out working in the container industry, at Southampton docks, then joined CSG in 2000. My weekly routine sees me regularly clocking up around 1,400 miles a week, transporting industrial waste up to Manchester where CSG has a specialist waste treatment centre.”

CSG was founded in Hampshire 85 years ago and operates more than 27 facilities across the UK, with a team of drivers, operatives and specialist consultants working together on the goal of diverting waste from landfill, recovering and recycling as much as possible.

Transport manager Mark Ashurst paid tribute to the dedicated driver, saying: “Gary fitted right in with his team and is a valued member of our CSG family. He is a punctual and consistent colleague and always has a smile on his face, which lifts everybody’s spirits.

“Botley’s specialist team of 12 bulk transport drivers work across the UK collecting oily waste and sewage from both industrial and domestic clients.

“Everyone at the Botley depot, as well as across the CSG business, congratulates Gary on reaching this milestone with the company.”

Away from work, father-of-two Gary volunteers with the scouting movement, helping hundreds of young people in the region to experience outdoor activities.

Gary added: “I have thoroughly enjoyed working for CSG over the past two decades. It is a good company that looks after its people, and I would certainly recommend it to other people.”
