CSG to Handle Hazardous Waste at Teesport

PD Ports, the award-winning ports and logistics business, has awarded Fareham-based independent waste managers Cleansing Service Group (CSG) a three-year contract to collect and treat hazardous waste from one of the UK’s largest ports.

CSG has been tasked with the management of all hazardous waste streams at Teesport, located on the North East coast of England, including oil-related and WEEE waste.

Teesport is the third largest port in the UK, handling more than 5,000 vessels and 40 million tonnes of cargo every year.

CSG, which operates the UK’s largest hazardous waste treatment and recycling facility at Cadishead near Manchester, will also provide a range of waste containers to the port to assist efficient collection and essential waste separation, as well as specialist industrial washing equipment.

They will also be servicing other PD Ports’ Teesside-based sites.

CSG operates a national network of hazardous waste treatment and recovery facilities, including north eastern sites at Wilton and Middlesbrough to which waste from the port sites will be transported.

A large proportion of waste collected from Teesport is oil-related including industrial rags, wipes, contaminated absorbents and vehicle filters. Both CSG sites include oil separation facilities – a fast growing part of CSG’s business.
