One of the UK’s biggest waste management companies is embarking on a fundraising drive to help leading mental health charity MIND in support of its Health & Safety Objectives for 2019.

CSG – one of the UK’s largest waste management companies – sets objectives each year based on four pillars of Safe People, Safe Environment, Safe Equipment & Safe Systems. In 2019 the pillar of Safe People will focus on the Health & Well Being of Employees, including mental health.

As part of this objective MIND has been selected as 2019’s nominated charity for Hampshire-based CSG, and will be the focus of the company’s employee events all year.

Fundraising for MIND in memory of a former CSG colleague was previously organised by a local depot, leading to the company-wide support this year.

The charity provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem, and campaigns to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.

Neil Richards, managing director of CSG, said: “With more than 500 employees working from sites throughout the UK, we are constantly mindful of the health and wellbeing of our people. As part of our planning for 2019 we are reviewing our health and safety objectives to ensure we fully support both the physical and emotional wellbeing of colleagues.

“This has led to us pledging to make MIND the focus of our corporate and employee fundraising throughout 2019. The charity has a wealth of resources for workplace wellbeing on its website and we will be encouraging staff throughout the business to engage with this valuable cause.”

Fundraising events will take place during the company’s annual Health & Safety week in April. Other events will include training for managers to recognise and manage work related stress.
